Why do BIG companies have a (CFO) Chief Financial Officer? ANSWER: Because they NEED one. Small companies cannot afford a CFO. If you are a small or medium sized company, READ this BOOK and find out how to be your OWN CFO. After reading this book from small business guru Michael E. Gerber (and Fred Parrish) I believe it's THE MOST IMPORTANT book I have ever read for helping small business. Why? Because EVERY business decision is a FINANCIAL decision!! The book explains what most experts already know: you MUST get control of your finances or you will FAIL!! I highly recommend this book - it will TRANSFORM your business and the way you MANAGE your business. Buy it, read it....I promise it will change your life as it has mine!!
WOW. I mean - REALLY. WOW. I wish I could have met Fred two decades ago. His straight forward way of talking about the subject of finance is inspiring. I finally am grasping and understanding complex forecasting and cash flow modeling. For years I have worked with several different CPA firms ( who although ) were wonderful at looking backwards, FRED and The Emyth CFO book taught me in a few short chapters HOW to look forward and predict, prepare and model for growth.I hope you are younger than me and buy it today, so you can save decades of down time. Thank you Fred and Michael for this eye opening book.
I was late coming the the emyth party... but I can tell you as someone who has been in their own business for over 25 years that Michael Gerber is right on the money with his EMyth insights. I wish I had read his book at the beginning I could have saved myself a lot of time, energy, aggravation and money. This book, co-written with Fred Parrish, is a primer on the role of the CFO within your company. Most small business people rely on their accountant to tell them how they're doing -- BIG MISTAKE. The accountant is the scorekeeper, the numbers are in the past tense. A CFO is a businessperson and needs to make crucial decisions in real time. Michael is a philosopher, if you've read emyth books there isn't too much new but it is always worthwhile to read again especially in this context. Fred is the cfo/money guy. He shares true tales from the trenches. They alternate chapters. To be clear -- this is not a book on finance or accounting but it will give you a clear sense of the steps you need to take to gain control of the lifeblood of your company -- the cash. Upon reading this book I was inspired to redesign my business from the top down, to develop new metrics to measure our success, and to find ways to better monitor and manage cash. For that inspiration alone the book was worth every penny. Ways the I think the book could be improved: it needs an index, a glossary, and action checklists. I would like even more concrete examples like those found in chapters 6 and 14. I would like examples of key financial measures that I could implement. Maybe in the next edition? But what is there is enough to get anyone who is interested on their way. Thanks guys -- terrific little book. It's already to made a difference in my businesses
Breaks down the importance of how business owners think about MONEY! Easy to read and this was an essential read. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone running a business and leadership teams responsible for the lifeblood of the company.
Wow! I am so excited to implement the thoughts and ideas in this book to keep my small business financial successful.
Great read. Another super addition to the E-Myth series. Lots of valuable and practical information.
This amazing new book in the E-Myth series is a notable break through in increasing the survival rate of small businesses. A must read for transforming the financial life of business owners. All entrepreneurs who read it will learn to think like a CFO and understand why it is important. You will be able to make better decision faster and be able to look into the future and know what's coming. Michael E Gerber and Fred G Parrish are a powerful team that will move the needle on positively impacting economic development worldwide. Buy 10 copies of this book and give 9 away to your closest business friends. They will love you even more for it. Enthusiastically, Robert N L Browning, Founder & CEO Success Solutions International.
